Advertisement Re-Design

My advertisement re-design is based off a Nike Jordan Brand advertisement I found in an old sports magazine from long ago. "Break to Build" simply means that in order to achieve success, you have to endure hard physical and mental suffering to build character. "There are no Cinderellas" is an allusion to the Disney character, who magically gets a luxury life. In sports, a Cinderella team is a magically unorthodox team that is not used to winning, but is having a magical year. The bottom three photos are basketball "cinderella" teams that have pulled off a miraculous upset versus a higher ranked team, but none of them are cindarellas because every team works hard to win.

The cindarella glass heel is sort of like a paradox, because like I mentioned there are no cindarella teams. I just used this picture for the looks, and the Nike logo. There is balance with the first 3 pictures on the top row signifying the pain in achieving success, and the bottom two with the glamorous upsets. Contrast stands out with the cindarella glass heel.

The meaning of this photo is my passion for success, and especially in sports. Behind all of the media coverage that athletes get, what people don't see is the hard work it takes into becoming great. People hate being tired and exhausted to their breaking point, but they work hard knowing the suffering will bring better results.

I think this was one of my favorite photos. I liked creating it, and felt I put in the effort to succeed. The advertisement altered further emphasizes the hard work needed to succeed.

Shrine down the Hall

My Shrine is a photo of my room which is contrasted to black and white. I have my heater, desk, trophies, bed, and laundry trophies. As well as a lot of random items.

I used a black and white option, and blur combinations in order to create the altered version of my photo. You can see contrast between my desk and my bed. There is unity in the cleanliness of my room.

I feel that my room has a lot of different parts that resemble myself. My trophies and San Francisco Giants gear testify to my hard work over my 17 years. The right side of my room is blurred.

I feel that my photo is complete because I put in a lot of work into altering this photo. It is definentely a shrine because I respect this place, It is dark to show that my prsecence will be missed when I depart for college.

5th Grade Memories

My photo consists of five photos from my childhood from top left to right;1) First day of 5th grade 2) First day before cub scouts 3) Trip to Beijing in 2005. Bottom left: 1) Playing at the mini-field at At&T Park. 2) Making sushi for the first time.

My photo has a pattern where they are all altered to black/white. I guess my body has been emphasized because of my pale complexion. All photos were taken around 2005, creating unity.

These are photos of me that I have achieved in memorable times. I started Boy Scouts and cooked for the first time.

I feel that my photo is successful because being eleven at the time was exciting. By editing by Paint.net, I spent quality time into achieving a "retro" effect.

Warhol Portrait

My photo is a 9-panel picture with my face and body using Paint.net, and I am wearing a SF Giants jacket. I have used complementary colors for each one of my pictures.

I have used the elements of design and the color wheel to create all of my pictures. There is emphasis on my faces, which contrasts out. Nine panels are balanced in 3 x 3 panels

I feel my portrait is succesful because I put a lot of time into it. The colors and the environment represent a diversified and balanced view of my life.

Surrealist Photo

My portrait is a picture of the Los Angeles Dodger's victory, and the team celebrating at Dodger Stadium. The paradox is that I am pictured in the corner with me wearing a Giants rival hoodies, and the World Series Championship trophy on top.

There is emphasis on the team celebrating, and the unity on my team's uniforms. The contrast is in my grey hoodie and the rival team in the Giants.

The environment shows that I am a firm supporter of the Giants, and it ts a paradox that the rival would unlikely be celebrating at home.

It is succesful because I spent a lot of time on this project, and it is unique for the sports team.

Visions of Music:Tribute to my grandfather

My album cover is a picture with my grandfather's grave in the background and a few pictures of me as a toddler with my late-grandfather. Yellow font with the words: "Look what you've done."

There are pictures in the top and bottom of me as a toddler. There is emphasis on the bold yellow words that stand out, "Look What You've done/"

The song, " Look What You've done" by Drake is dedicated to his grandmother. He raps about his appreciation for his grandmother contributing to his success. I thank my late-grandfather for all he has done for me.

I feel that this is successful because I put in hard work and it stands for something greater than myself- in memorial

Elements of Design: Contrast

The photo that I used was my 10th grade Junior Varsity Basketball picture with all of my teammates. We are all wearing our white uniforms along with our managers and coaches. The edited photo has a black/white photo, blue frame, slanted to the right, horizontal shift, and the names of all the players and coaches.

My picture has a pattern in where everyone is wearing the same uniform with the same color, with white
uniforms. The contrast is the black/white color. The unity is about the same number of people in each row.

The edited photo's purpose is provide an alternative look to my team photo, I like the look of the black/white effect. The photo says I appreciate and want to reminisce the good season.

I feel that I could have made a few more changes to the photo, but also I had a lot of trouble working with an entirely new system with an upgraded Paint.net, and I had to figure out a lot of the tools on my own, so I did my best.
